Squamish to Vancouver Island

 Oct 20th

Rain still. Wet and soggy. De-humidifier doing its job!

Oct 21st

Fishing, but no fish. Casting didn’t feel right… dumb me connected wrong rod tip. D’oh!

Water runoff was super silty and high and fast.

Rog still on a winning streak at cribbage!

Oct 22nd

Have been enjoying early morning coffee angel visits. Reading with coffee…Mmmm

Fly fishing for Coho. Three locations within 25min of home. No luck though… high dirty FAST water from the recent deluge.

Great bridge over the Cheakamus River!

We did find Halloween fun 🎃

Got bloodwork done again (it was simple this time!). Then took Linda for ice cream made by blending fruit into soft ice cream.

Oct 23

Linda got skunked at crib.

I got skunked fishing for trout… and that’s worse IMHO!

Linda visited “The Chief”… the 2nd largest “monolith” (one solid rock) in North America…

and she found, Fungi!

Then lots of errands.

Oct 24

Road trip - Vancouver

Porteau Cove: tidal pools & sea lions

Bulk Barn - 5 weeks of trail mix

Apple Store- huge

Home Depot - do your own cuts?!?!?!

UPS Store - mail delivery services

UBC - Museum of Anthropology:

Linda started a wooden box for our trailer hitch stuff.

Oct 25

Fishing Mamquam River with no luck. Saw some “trapped in a backwater”.

Linda finished an awesome storage box (wooden) for our trailer hitch gear!

Sadly… she lost at cribbage… AGAIN!

Oct 26

Water travel to Vancouver Island. Horseshoe Bay Vancouver to Departure Bay Nanaimo. (Boy are our fins tired!)

As we were disembarking we had a “Six Degrees of Separation” moment… talking to a guy who grew up and knew Dad & Judy from Lac du Bonnet!

Great greetings from pair of Bald Eagles at our trailer campsite!

Comments

  1. Great stories! Love the hitch box and the fungi - ain't seen no fish yet though! We had a similar experience with the degrees of separation in Scotland also. Woman on our tour was from Winnipeg and a colleague of the woman who was covering for me at church when we were gone! Interesting when the rest were from Australia, the States, etc. Love those Godwink moments! :-)
